Based on the gothic novel published in 1860 this is a traditional period drama adaptation that is very similar to many a BBC drama produced over the last 40 something years. It's good, its well acted, gripping and captures the gothic suspense of the era. Period dramas aren't my cup of tea really but this was good and I definitely enjoyed it.
